Arai RX-7V Evo FIM Racing 2 Gloss White Ece 2206 FRHPhe-02 Motorcycle Helmet
Arai
Arai is the first Motorcycle Helmet Manufacturer to clear the FIM FRHPhe-02 standard!
Using the same materials and construction techniques used on the existing RX-7V FRHPhe-01 helmet,
Arai was able to develop the new ‘RX-7V FIM Racing #2’ helmet and become the first helmet maker to become certified to this new standard.
As always, we at Arai do not confine ourselves to only categories required by the standards of the time. Instead,
we continue our pursuit for gains in protection whenever and wherever we can find it, which is the reason we can meet such a difficult challenge so quickly.
When it comes to head protection, we adhere to the idea that “it is better to do something rather than nothing”.
We believe that this way of thinking allows us to continue to accumulate small improvements over time that ultimately leads us to a helmet with improved protection.
Since 2020, the FIM has made it a requirement that gear must meet the FIM FRHPhe-01 standard.
For the sake of elevating rider protection to an even higher level, the FIM established the new FIM FRHPhe-02 standard.
According to the FIM, the first helmet recognized by them to have passed the even more stringent FRHPhe-02 standard was Arai’s ‘RX-7V FIM Racing #2’.
In 2023, the helmet was officially announced to have passed the standard in all shell sizes.
In the midst of these stringent new requirements, our helmet was quickly certified and authorized for use. As of 2024, the Arai “RX-7V FIM Racing #2” helmet is the first to be authorized for use in FIM sanctioned races.
The FIM and their President, Jorge Viegas, applauded Arai for our efforts in working to elevate rider head-protection.
In order to allow time for manufactures to clear this new rigid standard of FHRPhe-02, the FIM has given an extension until 2026 to meet these requirements.
GENERAL
PB-SNC2 OUTER SHELL
The Structural Net Composite adds a physical bond to the resin bond of the many layers of fibres and reinforcing materials within the shell.
The latest “Z-Mixture” resins increases material adhesion requiring less resin for a stronger bond between materials for a thinner and lighter shell.
Variable Axis System (VAS)
With VAS, the visor mounting position is lowered, yielding an average of an additional 24mm across both temple areas, in pursuit of the ideal smoother shape that increases the ability of glancing off energy.
As a result, this has made it possible for more of the shell to be smoother along and above the test line of the Snell standard.
VENTILATION - OVERVIEW
RX-7V EVO Ventilation
The combined systems offer excellent and efficient ventilation. Utilizing the same proven system as the RX-7V, the centre duct provides 11% more airflow, with bigger switches for effortless operating.
The lowered side-air channels guide air from the cheek pad area to the side ducts. The diffuser is 20 mm longer with improved aerodynamics, and 19% larger intake scoops,
both work together with the Air Wing to improve stability. The chin cover blocks air intrusion and draws more air from the mouth area.
Free Flow System (FFS)
Creates airflow under the helmet that reduces wind noise and turbulence while increasing the exhaust of hot air.
Lowered side-air channel
Lowered side air channels improve air extraction from the cheek pad area to the side ducts, also reducing noise.
FRONT VENTILATION
Center top vent - intake
The same proven Top Vent as the RX-7V provides 11% more airflow than the previous RX-7 Vent. The bigger switch makes opening and closing easier.
The Top Vent has three positions; closed, half open and fully open to adjust the airflow and prevent water intrusion when fully closed.
Diffuser system
The same proven diffusers as the RX-7V are 20mm longer and straightened for improved aerodynamics, working together with the Air Wing to improve stability.
Compared to the previous RX-7 diffusers, the efficiency of the intake scoops of the diffusers has increased by 19%.
The air intake vents not only have more adjustability with three positions; closed, half open and fully open but also help to improve sealing that decreases wind noise and water intrusion.
Brow vents extended to temple area
Fresh air can enter directly to the forehead area without the need for holes in this critical area of the shell and impact absorbing liner. For specific models the ventilation is extended to the temple area.
REAR VENTILATION
Neck exhaust vent
To enhance hot-air extraction from the interior. Increases the ventilation effect at the lower part of the helmet.
Side exhausts
Produce low pressure behind the rear vent for better hot air extraction. Integrated in the shell for better aerodynamics, reduce wind noise and prevent buffeting at speed.
Inside, a small foam dam helps to absorb and diminish excessive noise, without reducing ventilation performance.
AERODYNAMICS
Air Wing®
MotoGP tested and designed to greatly reduce drag, turbulence and buffeting resulting in more comfort and additional top-speed.
It improves stability of the helmet at high speeds or when braking hard and reduces noise. Depending on the model the Air Wing is adjustable in five different angles of attack positions to suit every riding position.
Pull Down Chin Spoiler
Helps minimize wind noise and also aids with the extraction of hot air from the face area. Provides additional deflection of road debris away from neck.
Depending on the model the Chin Spoiler is retractable.
VISOR
VAS Max Vision Visor with De-Mist option
VAS MAX Vision shield is standard to provide better visibility in all seasons and for all types of riding.
Shield latch system
Borrowed from our F1 helmet, completely modified 3D moving shield latch mechanism secures the shield like never before,
but operates smoothly with an intuitive fluid – one finger operation – even with gloves.
Pinlock insert lens
Effectively prevents misting and fogging of the visor, even under extreme wet and damp conditions. May be cleaned and changed easily.
COMFORT / SAFETY
Egg-shaped chin cover
Attached to the bottom of the helmet, the chin curtain helps to further accentuate the Egg-shape form.
The curtain simultaneously blocks air intrusion from turbulent air below and increases negative pressure to enhance the exhaust function of FFS by drawing more air from the mouth area.
The improved airflow reduces noise even further.
Emergency Release System (ERS)
Allows easier access to an injured rider. By pulling the orange tabs integrated in the pads, the cheek pads slide out.
Making helmet removal easier for trained medical personnel and rescuers. Minimising the risk of additional injury.
Breath guard
Works in conjunction with the dual-pivot® chin vent to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield.
APPROVAL
ECE R22-06
ECE R22-06 requires a much more stringent testing process than the previous ECE R22-05 and includes an oblique test to measure rotation.
Arai presented this model and it gained homologation while maintaining its characteristic round, smooth and strong shell design. Or simply put, by being an Arai.
Acquisition of the latest standards represent the current benchmark of the time, but Arai always continues to pursue improvements to protect the rider.
